WIAA Sports Physicals Tue Jul 29th, 2008
Come get a physical for the upcoming sports seasons and help your schools athletic program. For $25 you will receive a physical and of that, $20 will go to the school that you are currently attending.

Physicals will be held at the Greenheck Field House on Tuesday, June 24th from 5-7pm and at Wausau West High School on July 29th from 5:00-7:00pm[/EMOPH]. For more information please click here.

Blood Drive Wed Jul 9th, 2008
The Blood Center of Wisconsin is having a Blood Drive on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 12:30pm to 5:30 pm at the Weston Safety Building, 5303 Mesker Street. For an appointment or more information please call the Blood Center at toll free 1-888-310-7555. All blood types are needed. Walk-ins welcome. Please bring photo ID at time of donation. Your support is greatly appreciated.

All donors will be entered into a drawing for a gas card.

Animal Ordinance Proposed Revisions Mon Jul 7th, 2008
The Village of Weston is proposing a revised ordinance to Chapter 10 "Animals" on Monday July 7, 2008 at the Village Board Meeting. This meeting will begin following the Public Works meeting that starts at 5:30pm. This chapter includes, but is not limited to, animal control, licensing (for dogs and cats), nuisances, number of animals allowed, dangerous dogs, animal defecation, animals at large, and hunting. The revised ordiance also provides penalties for enforcement.

Computer/Electronics Recycling Event Fri Jun 27th, 2008 — 12:00 AM
Good News Project is holding five two-day events and three one-day events in 2008 to properly recycle electronics.

The two-day events are held from 1 to 4 p.m. on a Friday, then 9 a.m.
to noon Saturday.

The one-day events are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a Friday.

Remaining dates are:
Feb. 29
March 28 & 29
May 2 & 3
June 27
July 25
Sept. 12 & 13
Nov. 7 & 8
Jan. 9 & 10, 2009.

The computer/electronics recycling events are at the Good News Project warehouse, 1106 Fifth St., Wausau , three blocks south of Franklin Elementary School. Cost is 25 cents per pound. An average computer outfit is 40 to 60 pounds, so the cost would be $10 to $15. All items received are shipped to a professional computer recycler.

Accepted are computer gear, televsions, VCRs, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines, microwaves, stereo gear and other items containing circuit boards. No dehumidifiers, air conditioners or appliances.

Quality of Life in Weston General Notice
In an age when energy costs are high & taxpayers are more aware of their surroundings, "Sustainable Weston" is an effort focused on creating a community that is environmentally conscious. This new campaign has five areas of concentration: energy, ground & surface water protection, recycling, wetland & woodland preservation and controlling urban sprawl.

Also in a recent analysis of census data it was discovered that the Village of Weston is where young families want to live in Marathon County. Recognizing this fact, the Village Board proactively created the "New Generations" initiative aimed at meeting the needs of Weston’s younger residents.

Tax Payments-Dog Licenses General Notice
Payments for property taxes made after January 31st will be required to be made at the Marathon County Courthouse (500 Forest Street, Wausau, WI 54403). The Village of Weston is collecting 2008 dog licenses at the Weston Municipal Center in Weston through year end

Rummage Sale Extras General Notice
For those who have small items leftover from the Village Wide Rummage, you are welcome to drop them off at Dales Weston Lanes from 3pm to Midnight on Sunday, 11am-Midnight Monday thru Wednesday, and from 11am to 6pm Thursday, June 26th.

And, due to the overwhelming response of large wares and electronics these items are no longer being accepted. However, you are welcome to bring them to Goodwill between the following hours . .

Mon-Sat 9am-9pm
Sun - 9am-6pm

Items will be sold at the Farmer's Market on July 26th from 9am to 1pm as part of Weston Fest. All proceeds will then be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Weston Fest General Notice
The Community of Weston, partnering with Dale's Weston Lanes, are collaborating once again to host it's 3rd Annual "Weston Fest". Weston Fest is designed to bring local businesses, residents, and the surrounding areas together to enjoy a variety of fun filled activites and events for the individual or family. These activities will also benefit the charities and organizations of the Weston Community.
